Chris' Corner: South Simcoe Christmas Light Displays

South Simcoe Christmas Light Displays

There are a few homes who embrace the spirit of Christmas with their nightly displays of Lights and, at times, Music spectacularly.

I was driving my son home from school when I happened on these displays:

This home, located in Bond Head, just east of Highway 27 on the north side of Highway 88 (about 1.5 miles west of Highway 400) is the latest torch bearer for this community.  A home very close to this one used to have an absolutely breath taking display year after year, and I guess, over the years, the neighbour embraced the spirit.  A few years ago, the owners moved, and it seems shared (I am not sure if they sold or gave) some of their displays with the neighbour that has stayed.

This second home, located on The Boulevard in Tottenham, is another spectacular display choreographed to several Christmas songs.  My video capture does not truly do justice to the display.

Further up The Boulevard, I happened upon this home, which also had an impressive display.

This home, on 62 Ferris Lane in Alliston, was actually featured in the local paper, The Herald, and also has a spectacular display.  It uses 13,000 lights and took over 150 hours of programming to synchronize the lighting to music.  The daughter suggested they use what is now a local attraction to benefit the community and they have set up a lit donation bin accepting non-perishable donations to the local food bank, the local Humane Society and Cash Donations for local charities.  Here is a link to the Newspaper story and here is the YouTube Video:

Thanks Cooper, I am relatively new to anything more than a "point and shoot", but hopefully practice will make perfect!
