Chris' Corner: Allistons Outdoor Farmers Market

Allistons Outdoor Farmers Market

It's a sunny warm beautiful spring day in Alliston, and I am on Duty...

As I drove in to work at 8:30 a.m., I saw that Mill St. was closed for Alliston's Outdoor Farmer's Market, and that the stalls were already open.

Alliston Farmers Market on Mill St.
About noon, I thought I would stroll down the street and check out the fare.  Ro, from R&P Farms was there serving up Hot Dogs, 100% Pork Sausages and his famous Double Bacon Burger, a Peameal Bacon (Canadian Bacon) Burger topped with two slices of traditional Side Bacon.

Guess what I chose?

A fellow agent had bought an apple strudel and shared it with us.  It was great, full of apple with a hint of cinnamon.  I decided to buy one for Helen and Vi, they like good strudels.

Also available were some vegetables and potted plants, as well as a number of other stalls.  Expect to find fresh local produce as the summer season starts.

If you are in, or near, Alliston on a Saturday, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., drop by!
Plenty of Parking is available parallel to the Boyne River, easily accessed from Church or Paris Streets.

Goood Morning Chris, what a beautiful day it was for a farmer's market. Lucky you to be able to enjoy it. The apple strudel looks awesome, but the veggies really caught my eye. They look very tasty. Let me know the next Satruday you are on duty and I will cruise up and visit you and grab some veggies :))))

Chris - since you go to describe the famous double bacon burger with peameal bacon topped with not one but two slices of traditional side bacon in detail I would think this was your choice.

Good Morning Laura, Nice to see you on AR.  Even better to see you in person.  It has been way to long.  Next time I am on duty on a Saturday, meet me and lunch is on me, anywhere in town you want to go =)

Kathy, BBQing the bacon over real coal makes a huge difference in flavour.  My choice of toppings was tomato, onions, relish and mustard =)

Fred, there is temptation, yes, but also some great local fresh fruit and vegetables in season.
