Akira Sushi - Barrie, ON

Live in or near Barrie?  ... or just passing through on the way back from a day trip to Central Ontario's near North?  ... and want some great Sushi?

Akira Sushi, located just south of City Hall at 17 Mulcaster St. in Barrie, ON, and overlooking Kempenfelt Bay is the place to go!

Great atmosphere, pleasant staff, fair pricing and the best Sushi and Sashimi in town await you, whether you stop by for lunch or dinner.

There can be a wait during prime times (a good indicator that locals know it is the place to be), but you will find the wait worthwhile.  Among our favourites when we dine at Akira are: Enoki Mushroom Beef Roll, Seaweed and Kani salads, Miso and Seafood soups, Salmon & White Tuna Sashimi, and you definitely cannot go wrong with their Golden Dragon, Dynamite, Spider, or any of their rolls.  Their filling to rice ratio is high, and their presentation just accentuated a good meal.

Even Alec, our seven year old son, considers Akira one of his favorite dining destinations.  Over the years, we have introduced Akira to visitors, friends and members of our family.

Next time you are in the "neighbourhood" and looking for great Sushi, consder Akira, located on the west side of Mulcaster St. between Collier and Dunlop Streets in the heart of Barrie, definitely is a Fine Japanese Food Experience!

Hi Chris,

Love sushi, and your description makes me hungry......... one question, what the heck is that white stuff.......? We don't do snow and if there is any in this part of the country, things shut down for the few hours  that snow is on the ground..)

LOL Chris, now I know why I like you so much, nothing like good sushi. Whenever we travel we always ask the locals where they eat.

Hi Chris - A very nice review for sushi lovers and a great destination for those on their way to the cottage.  I ask the same question as Peter and Linda - What is all that white stuff in Barrie.  We don't have any snow in Toronto on the ground, except for a couple of white mountains in some plaza parking lots.

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself Chris and with that recommendation Akira Sushi should pick up some new customers ;)

It looks like I have a new destination when I'm in Barrie Chris. I have developed a love for sushi over the last few years which is rather strange, because it was something that I never thought i would enjoy. Now I'm becoming a bit of an expert. It's really good to see younger folk like Alec being open to trying different foods and cultural things. I don't think our generation had the same willingness when we were that age.

Nice localism post and nod for Akira Sushi. I'll take a California Roll anyday, the rest everyone else can enjoy Chris.

Peter and Linda, it truly has been a mild winter here so far... and it was nice to see some "snow" here during the Christmas Break ;-)

David, you can't go wrong following the locals...

Marc, about 2/3rds of our yard is covered in the white stuff, but it is only a light blanket.

Al and Peggy, have you tried sushi?  We would love to take you there sometime

Malcolm, I have clients that take their children, aged 12, 7, and 2 to sushi (although the baby does not eat any raw fish

Wanda, the spider roll has deep fried soft shell crab, and the Dynamite roll, has tempura shrimp... you can try sushi without having raw fish and ease your way into the whole experience
