I think this works 85% of the time.  Some of the words you used are not familiar.  But it is true how we are able to read without vowels.

I agree with you Ralph, some of the words I used were less common, but it is amazing how our minds generally fill in the blanks...

Hi Chris - A couple of years ago, someone else wrote about this same topic.  It was a lot of fun.  Can you write the post without using "I" throughout it.  BTW, I'm sure that most people (except those that know you or your area, have no idea that Btn means "Beeton".  :)

Many abbreviations are simply the word leaving out vowels: Mssn for Mission, Vlly for Valley, Blvd for Boulevard, etc.

Once you understand that the human eye and brain have been taught to read word forms, you can easily read something like that appears to be so cryptic.

Ahonetr iteenisrtng ietm is taht you can filray eisaly raed smeoihntg wehre the ltrtees are mexid up, as lnog as the frist and lsat lretets are wrehe tehy are spuoespd to be.

These are all things that you learn if you take a speed reading course. I took one of Evelyln Wood's speed reading courses way back in 1972 or 1973, somewhere around there. One of the most useful courses I ever took. Increased my reading speed from 180 words per minute to around 500 words per minute, and makes reading so much more fun, not to mention that I can read a lot more than I would otherwise be reading.
