Selling Grandma's house is often difficult, even when selling to another grandma.
Frequently our Oakhurst and Fresno, California Home Staging Company is asked to do consultations and stagings at homes owned by seniors in Oakhurst, it's surrounding communities and in Fresno communities.
Here is what we often see:

Outdated light fixtures and more
I cannot imagine anyone wanting to buy a home with these bathroom light fixtures:
Or these light fixtures:
Or these ceiling fans:
Can a home be sold without updating these items, yes, but we know that they contribute to the "old" feeling in a house and thus offers are adjusted downward.
Here are a few examples of how lighting can change a space, then add professional staging and the differences are significant:
Above is an example of the difference that can be made by simply framing the glass mirrors, updating lighting and plumbing fixtures. These sellers wished they had done it sooner.
In the above bathroom, we replaced the rusty chrome fixtures (placed wrong) with rubbed oil bronze fixtures and framed the mirror
In grandma's house above, the updated chandelier was less than $90. No more shiny brass or etched glass with ruffled edges in this house.
In the above vacant, the solution was less than $20.00. The antique brass fixture and chain was spray painted bronze and the glass globes were replaced with simple linen shades.
If updating these items is not going to happen then using a professional home stager will help make those light fixtures "less of an issue", in any house, vacant or occupied.
