Chris' Corner: Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

To my wife, the mother of my son... to my mother and my mother-in-law... to all my family and friends who are mothers, Peggy, Pauline, Anya, Sarah, Rita, Anne, Auntie Cynthia, Auntie Millie, Auntie Dolly, Auntie June, and Auntie Phyllis, Wanda, Kim, Mitzi, Meghan (to name a very few), and to all mothers everywhere,

I want to wish you, today, a very Happy Mother's Day.

It seems we often take a mother's love for granted.  We just expect it always to be there.  Today, especially, I want to thank all the mothers in my life for all the love I have felt from you in my life.

I often take for granted all the work a mother does.  At work, at home and at play.  To my wife, to my mother, and to my mother-in-law, thank you for everything you do.

I have read that when a marriage is having issues, one sure fire way to improve things is for the husband to allow the wife to make more family decisions.  The reason for this is that, innately, a wife will tend to make decisions for the benefit of the whole family rather than for herself or for a particular member.

I want to remember one other very special person today... Ma.  My grandmother.  My grandmother and I had a very special relationship, and though she died when I was seventeen, I have not and will never forget her.  I can remember the Bible stories she read to me at bedtime.  Watching The Lawrence Welk Show with her on Friday nights.  I remember and still feel all her love.  While she was alive she was the center of our extended family.  All major holidays, birthdays, summer picnics were a total family experience, always with Ma in the middle...

So today, Mother's Day, especially, I want to make a point of doing what we should be doing each and every day, telling all the mother's we love: thank you and that we appreciate all that you do.

Today, more than anything else, I will spend time, talk, share memories, eat a meal and "live" with the mothers who are an integral part of my life.  My wife, My Mother and my mother-in-law.

I think that I will take some time and pick up the phone and call a few other mothers, who, in their life and with their actions have left an indelible mark on me and influenced me for the better.

Thank You Barbara, as I am getting older, many mothers that have been so good to me during my lifetime are getting older also.  I thought perhaps a call to thank them for all they have done for me might be appropriate today...

Happy mothers day to you Jane =)

Good morning Michael, Hope you get to spend time with your mother =)

Chris, What a beautiful tribute for Mother's Day. You had a wonderful grandmother and how lucky you were to spend time with her.
