Chris' Corner: Save our Planet - Don't Throw That Unused Pet Food or Supplies Out

Save our Planet - Don't Throw That Unused Pet Food or Supplies Out

If we have pets, at one time or another, we find ourselves with food that is no longer appropriate for our pet.  My friends, Al and Peggy Cunningham, recently suggested donating such food to animal shelters in the spirit of "Paying it Forward".

May I add that such a gesture also has the benefit of "Saving Our Planet" by reducing waste and the amount we contribute to landfills.  So I add my "two cents":

If you have left over pet foods and/or equipment that is no longer used or needed, consider donating them to your local animal shelter or giving them away to someone who can use the food and/or equipment =)

If you find yourself with pet food that is no longer required either through loss of a beloved pet or like in our case, a required dietary change for your furry family members, don't through it out.

No we aren't going to suggest you eat it, but we are going to suggest you pay it forward to a local animal shelter.

Many animal shelters gladly take in unused or leftover food from pets.
Some may require that the bags have not been opened but others will take in whatever they can get. They seem to have a shortage of food. Giving the shelters spare toys, blankets and food/water bowls helps out as well.
