International Parenting Survey (Children aged two to twelve)

The researchers from the University of Ottawa, in conjunction with researchers from across Canada as well as international researchers from Australia and Germany have developed an on-line Parent Survey to get input from parents of Children aged 2 - 12.

The survey asks questions about your child's behaviour, your confidence in addressing issues your child experiences, and how you manage your child's behaviour.  The survey should take fifteen to twenty minutes to complete.  There is no incentive of direct benefit for participating, though input could help in the development of community programs and support mechanisms.  Another ancillary benefit might be a better understanding of your own thoughts about parenting.

Information about this study can be found at this University of Ottawa webpage, and

The International Parent Survey can be accessed here.

As the father of a soon to be eight year old, I wanted to participate.  I found some of the questions thought-provoking, though I felt the survey could have been a little more thorough in some regards.  It took me twenty minutes to complete this survey.  Perhaps the survey creators felt that if the survey was too long the participation rates would decrease?

If you are the parent of a child between the ages of two and twelve, your participation in this totally anonymous survey could help with the understanding of issues concerning the parents of children and might help with the creation of community systems and programs to help parents in the future.
